So, there's what appears to be a heat riser of some sort coming up from the intake manifold and into the snorkel on my carb. Is that all it is? Is it an exhaust passage? The seal between it and the snorkel is cracked and so it's slightly annoying sometimes.

Edit: Clarification. That riser isn't to the snorkel, it's to the passenger side of the air cleaner housing, kinda like at a PCV elbow. Thanks!

You should have two of those heat sink looking objects. They're probably rusty and noisy. The best thing to do is to throw them away and plug the holes on top of the head with two metric plugs you can get at some hardware stores.

They are noisy. I'll wait until I take it thru emissions this week to see how close it is before messing with anything. The car hasn't been licensed in 6 years.
