wires running under car

Post by donerehart »

I jacked my car up today and found two wires not plugged into anything under the car near the transmission. What in the world do these go to? Could they be the trunk light - it doesn't work? All my exterior rear lights are working...
Thanks,
Don

Do your back up lights work? On the tranny are there posts that look like something needs to be attached?

There are two sensors on many of the transmissions.

Back up lights (which turns on your backup lights)

3-4 gear sensor (which triggers an emissions control system)

Likely the 3-4 sensor was disabled.

When changing my flex joint I noticed the same thing. I had two wires (Black) wrapped around my drive shaft between the joint and the gearbox. It turned out to be the sensor wires from the top of the gearbox.

Thanks everyone! As always, your input is really helpful. Much appreciated! I will check my backup lights... and not worry about the other...

Does anyone know which wire is the backup light? I have a green one and a yellow wire both hanging behind the transmission.
I don't know which one is which...
