I got my new motor mounts today from IAP and was wondering if somone can list the basic steps to changing out the old ones. I understand to jack the engine up from the bellhousing of the transmission but before that will I have to unbolt the exhaust downpipe?
I have a enough room to work as the intake manfold is off, the radiator is out. I never replaced motor mounts before. Appreciate any tips!

Yeup the exhaust has or should be disconected. Remember the nuts holding the pipe to the manifold can be siezed and are easy to break off. Undo the 17mm nuts on top of the mounts and then the same with the lower nuts. I find with the engine weight on the mounts the nuts come off easier without the chance of the mount spinning with a tight nut. I used a universal with the nuts on Zachs car the other day. Yes jack the car up at the bell housing enough to clear the stud and then a bit more if you can to get the mount out. Getting the engine back on the new studs I think goes easier with one guiding while other is lowering the jack.

Re: Installing new motor mounts? Need help!
I jacked up the car and slid ramps underneath the front tires and placed jackstands under the crossmember. My friend is gonna give me a hand tomorrow as he's done motor mounts before on his honda and such. I took a few pics tonight. So, do I put the jack underneath the part of the transmission which is located between the fly wheel opening and automatic trans pan, which sloped is that the bellhousing ?

Yes, make sure you have a small enough head on the jack, so that you don't dent the oil pan or tranny cover
Re: Installing new motor mounts? Hardware Question
Ok got the new mounts in! Wasn't that hard really. Just have to bolt the nuts back on, but should I also use a split lock washer with each nut? Thanks.

I think factory was nylock, but lock washers or med locktight should be OK too.
