Holley/weber

Post by mostlytwowheeled »

Anyone ever install a Holley/Weber 32/36 progressive carb from the early 70's 2.0 liter ford pinto engine? I picked up a NOS one with electric assist/water choke. Drops right on the intake manifold and linkage setup matches stock Fiat setup. I'm assuming,(never assume), the jetting may be very close. Any feedback? Thanks.

it will work, the choke water nipples are usually too large for the Fiat hoses though

Thanks for your response, Mark. I turned up a couple of hose adapters on my lathe to go from the Fiat hose size to the 5/8 hose that fits the carb. I used some brass stock and they fit well.

I had a pinto with that carb. The only problem was some of the smog stuff. I just plugged that, and it worked fine. I did rejet it, but it really didn't need it.

back when Pintos were plentiful in the wrecking yards, that was the cheap carb upgrade compared to buying a new 32/36 Weber

This carb appears to be a very early model with only two small vacuum ports which I will cap. I think that I will also remove the choke flap from the secondary barrel as I don't think it's necessary.

Anybody got a diagram showing the ports on this Holley 5200 carb?
I just bought one to try out, but I don't know which is the fuel in/fuel out port. I'm just kinda guessing at them all.It looks like I have to buy a threaded fitting to stick into one so I can connect a hose. Never realised how much I don't know about cars until I start projects like this.
Good Idea turning your own brass fittings. I think I will do that too.
