Afternoon All,
Just bought a 79 spider Auto a couple of weeks ago, it was imported to the UK in 97 and I've been told has been kept in a garage ever since, judging by the minimal amount of rust I'd say that was probably true, just starting to come to terms with the patchy parts support for spiders in the UK!

Hello and Welcome! Yes, not too many Spiders ever made it to the UK. Perhaps one reason is Fiat never made a right-hooker. SpiderPoint in Germany has shipped me several quality items, and you may be able to obtain parts directly from Italy; I have done so occasionally. And of course the "usual suspects" here in the US ship internationally, but since 9/11 that has gotten expensive and lengthy.

Hi Paul,
Welcome from one to another UK Spider enthusiast. As you say spares in the Uk are patchy to say the least, you may find a good 'spares car' but for new parts very quickly and some good advice speak to Ralph at Spider Point in Germany. I am 75% of the way through a total bare metal restoration of a 1983 Pininifarina and I have nothing but praise for Spider Point.
Some spares are still available from local motor factors if they are the same as a Fiat Argenta.131 or 132, cheaply, but otherwise parts are very expensive and stupidly long delays in UK. What ever else has been said on this forum about Spider Point, I always find they are good quality, fair prices and quick delivery. Also being in the EU, no problems with import duty or VAT as you can get with US parts which are often very attractively priced at source.
I do have a good 'spares car' I will not promise, but may be able to offer something if you are having problems. PM me.
Ian

Thanks everyone,
Good to have a resource like this to call on for tip and tech stuff, does anyone know if there are any Spider meets in the UK?
Cheers,
Paul

I can only agree. My latest delivery took three days from submitting via e-mail to it sitting at my door. They might not always be the cheapest for everything, and I have ordered from other good sources in Germany, but I tend to find everything in one place at Spider Point, and the catalogue is easy to browse and quickly find the part numbers. The browsing and ordering interface at some other providers is "adventurous", to say the least.Brightredspider wrote: What ever else has been said on this forum about Spider Point, I always find they are good quality, fair prices and quick delivery.
