I'm changing out the exhaust manifold on my '79 spider, just want to clarify that only the top 2 studs need to be sealed. Also is the thread pitch 1.25 or 1.5. Also for those wanting to plug the cross over on the exhaust I found a 1/2" brass pipe plug that worked perfectly.

Re: exhaust studs
I asked this exact same question in the performance forum last week. I'm looking to swap out my manifold and downpipe next weekend.
Here's a link to Matt answering my question about the studs:

Hope this helps! Let me know about your swap since I'll be doing it in a week.

Re: exhaust studs
Really?
Wow, I didn't mean to give you bad info! I linked to my thread because I assumed that my '76 and your '79 would have the same exact studs.
I hope it didn't slow you down too much. How's the upgrade coming?

Re: exhaust studs
You didn't slow me at all, I ended up re-using the studs but got new nuts, that's how I found out. I'm coming along slowly because I have a huge "while I'm there" project going on. Right now I have both the intake and exhaust manifolds off with a dfev and 1800 manifold, water pump and timing belt and seals waiting. I've never done any of this before and I appreciate all of the confidence and help I get on this forum.
