Oil coming out top of dip stick

Post by amsiegel »

Hi all

Tonight has been the first time I have been able to take the Spider for a real drive in about 6 months. When I got it home it looks like there had been oil comming out from the top of the dip stick. The tube the stick goes into has oil on it and there is oil splatter on the valve cover next to it. I checked the oil level before I left and it was just at the full line. Any idea on what has casued this.

Thanks
Andrew

excess crankcase pressure. That can be caused by oil level too high, a restriction in the ventilation system, or blow-by

When I got mine a few years back. When revved, oil would come out of the crankcase vent hose. The dipstick read not even quite full, however I figured out that the dipstick tube was not seated and took a small hammer and seated it. Turned out it had way too much oil in it!

thanks will look into that in morning but I think I have figured out what might be the problem. I removed the cone shape filter that I installed on the end of the crank case breather house after replacing the stock air cleaner with the lunch box type one. Its time for a new one this one seem clogged.

New question Does anyone kknow of a lunch box type filter out there that can fit our crank case hose with out needing an adapter. the one I have had a tube on it but it would have reduce the vent hose by to much. Internal diamater of house is about 1 inch the internal diameter of the attached tube was about 1/4 inch (guessing). The would be to restictive. Or can some suggest a better crank car breather
