Actually Mark I didn't get my kit from you because I saw it on a vw site while I was ordering some other stuff, wanted to save on shipping. Sorry for the confusion, is the rod you include an extra part not included in the empi kit?

I don't know if anyone has installed the carb in an auto car, although I don't know why it wouldn't work
