1981 Spider 2000 no power at injectors?

Post by 281betas »

HI there, this is my first time using this forum so, I'll hit the ground running, my dad and I have been restoring a 1981 Spider 2000, we've got the car 90% complete, but we wanted to get the car running, and have been able to deduce that the injectors aren't getting any power, we've gone through the wiring and everything looks correct, maybe the ECU? but we've tried 3 different ECUs and still haven't gotten anywhere, looking for a fresh set of ideas?
many thanks,
GT

It's more than likely the bosch double relay switch, see if you can swap that????

the injectors are powered through the double relay, then grounded through the ecu

Hi,
Don't mean to be smart but how do you deduce that the injectors are not getting any power??
How are all your ground points??

Hi again,
We have replaced the double relay, with one we know works, and all of our grounding points are good, we used a test light on both prongs of the fuel injection plugs, and ran through the "fuel injection diagnosis and maintenance manual" from Fiat. Still nothing has changed. When we went through the wiring diagrams we could not find a place for one wire that is part of the fuel injection loom. See link below.

It runs to slot twenty-two on the ECU, and if we are correct, controls the thermo-time switch on the cold start valve, looking to know for sure on which side does this wire belong, positive? or negative on the coil?
Any help appreciated,
Thanks Again,
GT

first you do not have three bad ecu's go through all your wiering step by step and be sure your relays are working, how about if you energizze the relays manualy do you then have power to the inj? if yes then look at the relay circuit, if not look at the inj wiering you can get through this juat slow down and use a little common since check that you have power and ground every where you should u have.

Are the two grounds attached at the inake plenum? It's pretty common for these to be forgotten when putting things back together. And you say you have power going to the dual relay. Which wire(s) did you check? The inline fused wire (brown with a white stripe) is power for the fuel pump, but there is also a 12 gauge brown wire which is direct power from the battery and a pink with black stripe coming from the ignition switch that need to be energized.
