Trunk Light Question
I have a crazy question? How in the world does the trunk light turn on? Is it supposed to turn on when the trunk opens?

Re: Trunk Light Question
Mine turns on when the cockpit light switch is in the middle or down position.
Re: Trunk Light Question
There is a switch in the trunk to activate light as you open trunk, and methinks you also need to have the running lights on.

Re: Trunk Light Question
I'm pretty sure that for a 76, the light is on any time the parking lights are powered.

Re: Trunk Light Question
No, I just keep a flashlight handy for the trunk. I had installed a bulb in mine years ago and spent a week tracing a short right back to the trunk light that caused dash lights, parking lights, etc from working properly.

Re: Trunk Light Question
really ? i have been working on getting my lights all working and put a bulb in mine and did a few other things, than went to my park lights and now they blink opposite my turn signals. wonder if that light could be the cause of the trouble ?
Re: Trunk Light Question
Trunk lite is not causing running lights to blink. Usually poor ground or improper bulb.
I love my trunk light in my 72, a nice touch.

After reading these posts, I think I better stick to the flashlight too!

Re: Trunk Light Question
Like Denise's, my trunk light was being a dead short when I got my car. I took out the light and put in this switched light that has extra wire on it so it can be moved to where I need it.
Knowing myself, I opted not to go with a flashlight. (I'd only end up with dead batteries.)

Re: Trunk Light Question
Sorry to revive an old post, but trunk light?? I've owned my car for 2+ years and I had no idea these even had a trunk light!Clearly some diagnosis work is called for.
Re: Trunk Light Question
I installed a mecury switch, like most of the newer cars have on them.
Re: Trunk Light Question
rlux4, I'll bet you could put a few dots of heavy-duty 3M velcro-type stuff (the stuff used to hold EZ-Pass tags onto windshields) around a few locations in the trunk to set that light in a couple of semi-fixed spots, keep it from moving around in the trunk through turns and such, and yet still allow it to be movable. Useful mod!

Re: Trunk Light Question
Good idea kid. Suprisingly, it's always in the same spot when I open my trunk. Maybe because I drive like an old lady. But if I did need to use the light it would be handy to stick it where it was needed so I could use both of my hands.
Thanks,
Ron
