Hi all, I'm popping in to let you all know I'm here. After 25 years of kid/grocery haulers, the wife and I decided we needed a fun car. We came very close to buying a very nice completely restored 82 Spider a little over a year ago. The bank and my insurance company dissuaded us from making this purchase. We ended up getting a Mercedes SLK instead. The Merc is a great car, but I have wanted a Fiat Spider since the early 70's. I've always loved the body design. I recently purchased a 1980 model that needs much TLC both rear wheel arches need to be partially or completely cut out and replaced. And the driver side rocker panel has a 2 inch hole. The interior is a little rough as well. I've ordered parts and will be starting the restoration project shortly. I'm looking forward to tapping into the knowledge and experience on this forum during the process.

Welcome. Quite a difference.

Well, you have come to the right place. Most of us are just like you (except for the MB) and have similar levels of projects and puzzles to solve on our rides.

Feel free to post some pics and keep us updated on your progress. Don't hesitate to post up questions, by now most everything about these cars has come up at least once.

So welcome and looking forward to your first post about driving your new ride!

Hello Todd, and Welcome. The fuel injected Spider is an easy to maintain fun car. For all their limitations, old cars have a fell that can't be duplicated in modern vehicles. Pictures, please!
