Stripped Coolant Tee bleed plug hole!:(
Can I retap the hole to a larger size and put a new plug in it? Anyone else done that before.

Can't see why not. I've heli-coiled the "T" and used the same plug in the past.

Sure, I tapped mine out to pipe thread and screwed in a petcock so that I won't have to unscrew it again. I believe the next larger size was 3/8 pipe, but when I tried a 3/8 petcock it hit the coolant temp sensor, so I used a 3/8 to 1/4 bushing and the 1/4" pipe petcock. A 3/8" plug would have also worked and looked cleaner, but wouldn't be as user friendly.

I retapped the hole using the same M12 size but different pitch. Hopefully will have no leaks. Will post back tomorrow when I refill the system.

Too help, if you have'nt done so, put some thred sealant on the plug. That would help as well.

Thanks will try that! I couldn't find any copper crush washers, so will be using a neoprene washer.narfire wrote:Too help, if you have'nt done so, put some thred sealant on the plug. That would help as well.
Actually, I'll check advanced auto for the crush washer.
