compression psi

just some thoughts i'm trying to work out here- wanna know how much life the piston ring and valve seal have left

i suppose higher compression engines (10:1) should have a higher compression psi than lower compression engines (8:1)

is there a way to equate (mathimatically) the compression ratio (8:1) to a psi value that is on the compression gauge?

if so , what would be a good compression psi for a stock 1800 eng (8:1) ??

Your psi numbers are just fine. Maybe a little lower than some of the other 1800s out there, but in a good range, and they're all equal; that's important. Did you test a warm engine, with all the plugs removed, and a fresh battery?

dang- just when ya thought ya knew it all, somebody goes and writes that Sh*%.
ok the compression psi #'s are in tolerance for my eng-- at what point should i consider rebuilt -- below 120 or 110 psi?? or just run her till she whezzes and farts???

LIke was said, all you really want from a compression test is to see the cylinders even. No magic ## at which to rebuilt.
