Re: Throttle pull cable..................
I find that the throttle cable is great for keeping her idling without the choke (for example, while im feeding the horse and want to melt some frost off the windshield in the morning and cant be in the car to slowly take car off enrichment, preventing plug fouling), when its time to do the ignition timing and you dont have a friend handy and also when the fiat is stuck in mud and you need to have a bit of throttle on her so that you may place her in gear, hope out and push (again, no friend or wife handy ). That said, no way i would use it for cruise control lol

There is a reason these things were outlawed in the 70's...

Yep, I saw how it works. I hooked it up and played with it. Then I took it apart. For me, it looks dangerous. The cable has a small bend in it and seems to not work smoothly. I just see something going wrong and it possibly sticking. My choke works fine so really no need I guess. Thanks
Mine had a real bad kink in it. Don't be afraid to take it apart. Very easy to fix, add some grease and your good to go. Mine works great now.

Re: Throttle pull cable..................
I use the left pull knob every day. If I leave it all the way in, even when the engine's warm, i get hesitation every time I give it gas, and often at starts. It makes shifting tough with that hesitation. But when I pull it out a bit, so the idle goes up to, say, 1100 or 1200 rpm, then the hesitation disappears.
I also have a knob on the right underside of the steering wheel and can't figure out what it is for. Anyone know?
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the knob on the left is the choke, and the one on the right is the hand throttle.

Re: Throttle pull cable..................
It seems that it is because when I don't pull it part way out, the car hesitates when I give it gas. Pulling it slightly out (where the idle goes from about 1000 to 1200 or so) makes the car run perfectly, no hesitations at all. I hope this isn't bad for the mixture or the engine!
Now I have to figure out that throttle cable. it's definitely broken, since the knob just pulls all the way out and I can keep pulling cable out

Once the engine is warmed up, you should not need the choke. If you do, something is wrong.

That's what I was thinking, too. I'm new to old gas engines -- I've been spending a lot of time lately restoring a few old Mercedes diesels...carburetors are like black magic to me. I guess I'll have to start doing some general maintenance and checking as described in the Haynes service manual that was included with the car.

Re: Throttle pull cable..................
Would someone please elaborate...
Ok, I see the bracket, the white plastic tab, and the looped end. But where does the looped end attach?
Thank you.
