I bought a 1978 Spider a couple of years ago. I liked how they looked and that they are not so rare as to be super-pricey but not so common as to not get attention. I switched out the interior and had it painted. I then bought another one for my daughter (a 1980 with an automatic) but she decided she didnt want one and my wife decided she liked the automatic one more. So I have had that one restored externally and removed the bumpers. I also have a Florida 1977 spider I bought for a friend who then backed out of buying it. I have had the engine on the 1977 rebuilt and the exterior gets restored starting tomorrow. Then fix the tie rods and it is done. I have a few more we are working on as well. I hope to restore 2 1981s and two 1979s this Summer. So there is the deal with me and spiders.
