Guys,
When I picked my car up earlier this year I've found a few bits and pieces which have not been finished after it's restoration. One them is the rubber securing straps for the soft top when it's folded down and I'm after a favour from someone.
I want to fit the straps myself but a) want to make sure I use as close to the original screws/washers etc and b) obviously want to get them in the right place.
Could one of you be so kind to post some close up pictures of this area so I can see where and how they are fitted please? It would be much appreciated.
Below is a photo of the area so that above hopefully makes sense
Cheers,
Simon.

Re: Soft Top Securing Straps Question
I have that small "buttons" needed to mount the straps. It goes in the loop end of the strap. Send me an email if you need them. matt.scarton@gmail.com

Re: Soft Top Securing Straps Question
I had no idea what those straps were for.
I suppose with a cover, the straps are less necessary. The previous owner wasn't using the straps and I haven't yet, either.
Tim.

Re: Soft Top Securing Straps Question
I always use the straps, PITA as they are. The reason is to prevent wear.
Without the straps the top moves about a bit as the car is dfriven. Motion = wear. Not so much of the fabric (although that may be so as well), but of the frame pieces, one to another, and the rear plastic window.
Unnecessarily fussy? Perhaps. But I just replaced my car's top for the first time since I bought it in `88 and apart from two open seams, everything was still tight and the rear plastic window was still clear.

Yes, it is the latch. I powder-coated them satin black, to match the top. (Ditto the pull handle tips). They were looking rather gnarly anyway.
