Just wanted to say ciao. Just joined over the weekend.
Live near Washington DC and have become interested in the Fiat Spider.
I love Italian cars and currently own a 2006 Maserati GranSport (my 3rd Maserati).
Have been looking at the new 500 as well.

Wondering if anyone know of a dealer outside of Chicago named Roadster Salon? They specialize in Spiders and have a couple of nice looking examples.

In the meantime, I'll search around to get to know the site better.

Thanks

Hello Veloce49 and Welcome! You live in a great area to enjoy a Fiat Spider. Outside of SoCal, there's probably more on the road here than any other area of the USA. Two shops close to you, in Fairfax and College Park, specialize in these cars. http://www.dcfiats.org has over 100 members, with a dozen or more turning out for every drive.

Here's a thread you might find useful. Check out the links I posted. http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10950

The good news is that the Spider was inexpensive, plentiful, and had a 19-year production run. Running examples can be found for less than $5k. These same traits are also the bad news, as virtually every one has been "restored" and "improved" by amateurs (Guilty! ). Very few are/were treated with the same care that Masers, Ferrari's and Alfa of the same era. Take your time, maybe talk with some club members, explore this useful site. It is very likely that you will end up spending a lot more money on your Spider than it will ever be worth on the open market, so choose wisely.

baltobernie - thanks for the welcome and that very useful information. I will check out the local group. I fully realize I will put more $$ in they will ever be returned, no problem with that.
p.s. is the balto for Baltimore? I was born and raised there.

They're such a good value, that even if you build The World's Most Beautiful Spider, you'll still have less in it than a new Miata. How cool is that?

"I wash borned here, I wash raised here ..." Everything one needs to know about life can be found here or watching Blazing Saddles. OK .... throw in Blues Brothers and you've got everything covered :D
