It has the dual oem horns and they sux! You can't even hear them while driving. Very weak sounding. What is causing them to be so blaa.?? Are they repairable?
Thanks all.

Don't waste your time with that horn. Most of us in the NJ fiat club have this horn. It's sounds really good and loud.
Click on the horn button below the horn and you can hear it.

You may need to add oil to the compressor. 3 in 1 oil works just fine. Also, check the trumpets to make sure they are clear of debris. Nothing sounds like an Italian air horn.

Re: '81 horns sound like crap.
does anyone know who or where i can get the air horns form my 68 rebuilt the diaphrams are bad. had them polished and the then they blew air threw them BIG NO NO !
Re: '81 horns sound like crap.
They are not the air horns. Wish they were! They're the twin "snail" looking ones.
Re: '81 horns sound like crap.
This has been discussed before. Earlier cars and European spec cars have Fiam twin trumpet air horns as std but US safety regulations made them tone down the horns along with fitting the 5Mph bumpers.whiterabbit wrote:They are not the air horns. Better to run down a pedestrian than give them a fright mentality ????
You might find only one is working as they can corrode up inside, like mine did. So I took them out and used 1 set of horn wires to trip a new relay that should come with any set of new airhorns. Mount the trumpets between radiator and grille (slope them downwards to drain any water) and I fitted pump on a bracket above charcoal cannister on LH inner guard

When I put mu '75 back on the road, I found mud dauber (wasp) nests inside my horns.
I used water and solvent to clean the horns out and lubed the motor for the compressor and they work great.
I have to say, if these are the US spec horns, they are still louder than most!
