Turns signals not working

O.K. so as a pure newbie to this forum(extremely informative) and Fiats I am at a loss. (1981 spider)
Amongst a whole host of future questions I'll start with this one...

When I turn on the turn signal the hazards come on(all 4 turn signals operate). Or nothing happens. I have been looking at the wiring diagrams and trouble shooting pdf but have not been able to come up with the rationale for this problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

If an 81 is wired anything lke a 72 the hazard switch is the first thing to look at. The wires get switched around .

Definitely look at that hazard switch as the culprit. Do a quick search and you'll find a tutorial just posted days ago on fixing your switch. It should at least help you rule a couple of things out.

Started looking at the switch last nite. Will investigate further tonite. THANKS

clean and electrical jelly the bottle cap style ground connectors on both fenders and the connectors in the trunk

So the hazard switch is bad but riggable for now the turn signal is working. Thanks.
unfortunately after putting in the new radio the seat belt light is now the courtesy light? At 2 am I gave up.

Welcome to the world of FIAT! Any time I fix something it seems that something else quits working. I think its a fun hobby, but can see how frustrating it can be!
