Wanna be 124 Spider Owner From Colorado

Post by SeldomSeen »

Howdy:

My first car ever was a dark blue 1969 Fiat 124 Sport Spider back in 1971. That was back in Michigan and being a daily driver, I had to watch it rust away. I literally drove the fenders off that thing. God how I loved that car. I had a red '69 spider in California but when I moved to Colorado there was no place to store it so it got sold. I also had a light blue '73 for a short while but gave it to my first wife when we divorced in 1975. She needed a car to drive to work and my job was within walking distance.

I now own a near perfect 1966 MGB roadster and a lovely 1972 Alfa GTV. My wife has a 2007 MINI Cooper S which is scary fast. I really want another 124 spider- desperately! It would have to be an older one with smaller bumpers and be in at least condition two. My favorite colors for the model are any of the blue colors and red. My search had now gone into the fourth year and there have been many close calls and disappointments. I search daily on the net in all of the usual places.

It's great to see a very active site for these wonderful, beautiful automobiles.

Best,
SS

Glad to see you were finally granted admittance to the forum! This is a really active group, and this may be one of the best sites to finally find your car.I know you are a early car fan,but Ron L has a great 82 for sale, listed in the classifieds.I will look at FFO,and if I see something that fits the bill,I will send you some pics.

Craig:

Thanks for the welcome. Have fun in Nashville. It's true, I'm only interested in 1968-1973 spiders. The later ones are great cars but the large bumpers and raised suspension change the look of the car too much. It's just not the same.

Don't leave out the 74's. They came with the "best" stock carb and had the small bumpers.
I may be a bit biased though

I don't think owning a couple of spiders is not the definition of "want-a- be " more like former addict looking to reconnect with his addiction.

Kevin: You're right about the early '74s. I'd be deliriously happy with one.

Grittracing: Thank you for verifying what I've always felt.

I really like it here...
