Received a 1982 Spider Pininfarina a couple of weeks ago in payment for a bit of land clearing.

It has sat in a garage for 12 years. Driven in and not touched, since. It was used for autocross for a while - I saw a dent in the oil pan - and has some odd size tires on it (205/60x14) which still had air in them - the wide profile really fills out the arches. There's also a set of good steel wheels. Various wear and tear for a car which was used and liked to be driven.
I'd like to get it running, see how it goes and take it from there. Any recommendations beyond changing the fluids? What would be the best and/or easiest way to cycle the old fuel out?

Welcome,and nice find.I live in NE Georgia ,so its nice to see another one getting roadworthy.That panhard bar may not be bent as badly as you think.They all have a natural kink,to clear the diff.I think I would want to take the tank out and drainit that way.Then you can inspect the internals a bit.I bet with fresh fuel,she'll fire right up.

Glad to meet you and welcome to the wacky world of Fiats. I live in Cameron, which is 85miles west of you on I-26, near St Matthews. Give me a yell if you need help with her. The panhard rod is, unfortunately, quite bent. I'm pretty sure it cannot be straightened - the whole axle has been pulled to the right about 3/4 inch.
Anyhoo, I have the tank out, and have it off for a cleaning and recoating. It was pretty nasty. the sender was basically a ball of rust. New sparks, new air filter, new oil and filter. I'll be cleaning out the fuel lines, see if there's any gunk in there.

Hi I'm new also in Myrtle Beach. Chances are your gas tank will need attention. I got the K&B kit and it worked well. Trust me it will save you alot of money in fuel pumps, voice of experience. Anyway looks like a great car good luck. They do start right up. Rebuilding the entire front end on mine. You may want to check to make certain there is fluid in the steering idler, transmission fluid seems to be the general thinking on the forum. If it seizes you will also be taking apart your front end. Good luck

Hi there from BC.
Hmmmm... where to start. The panhard looks like someone tried to use it as a jacking point. Take a look at the parts for sale section,I'd guess there will be one nearby cheap.
After the car is running and the fuel stuff is sorted,do change the timing belt. An easy evolution if the metal shrouds have already been removed. Perhaps there is another member that is nearby and can help,most here work/help for cold units of instalation fluid
Another must is the rubber "donut/flex disk just after the transmission. This will dry and crack with time and most if not all here would recomend changing that out if you don't have a definate history on the part. Always nice to start with a known replacement and time.
Brakes are another issue if it has been sitting for awhile,they HAVE to work before you go anywhere. They are easy to sort out. Perhaps source a good manual or two as well.
