81 in Florida

Post by Divers »

Hi all!

Just bought a very nice spider. Needs brake master cylinder, rear calipers and second and fourth gear. Only spent $900 bucks...no rust, original motor and interior. Figuring out what I am going to do with it!

Btw...when I stated that I was deciding what to do with it....I meant, what level of restoration, not if I was going to keep or sell it.

HELLO and welcome
very nice car
do you have the grill?
and those bumper corners are around $100
the rear corner picses come off remove them and have them painted
as ive learned here, you can put in an automatic "chevette/geo tracker.!
when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)

No grill...going to make something from McMaster Carr. I am leaning on removal of the bumpers.

I am pretty sure that the bumpers will be coming off and sold. I really like the smooth lines without that tube bumper. Figure I can invest the money from selling them into the tranny rebuild etc etc.

when i got mine,i had no 2nd so idrove till 3rd went out
also i picked it up in RENO but it came from sana cruse CA
i didnt have 2nd so i went 1st 3rd 5th for the on ramps
after the 2 years before 3rd went i found a european mecanic localy

i had him do a rebuild because i didnt have enouf money
that dink did the rebuild and didnt bother discussing the CRACKED CASE
so when i did the test drive the tranz got burnning hot
and sounded like all the berrings were BAD

first 1200 dollars then 1400 to finish, just have a bad tranz
i asked "how much is berrings?"
he says $400 more /and a case of beer
he then payed his rent with my money and didnt buy berrings
he tears it apart again then tells me cracked case
1 month later i picked up a parts car $400 and had his wrench guy do a switch a roo
after 6 months i went into his shop"witch he was loosing"
and picked up a bucket of tranz.the old switch a roo didnt go so well as
the second tranz shortly lost 2nd!i had a ford guy do it and things still arent right
BUT SHE GOES.

i used a few parts off that car so far.
i tryed to save it all but my tree house is only so big

Hello "81 in Florida."

I used to have my car in Miami for years and years. I highly recommend AutoVeloce if you're looking for a good reputable service shop. It's an Italian father/son team that have been in the business for a loooooooooong time.

Good luck!
