Brown wire Surgery

Post by clarkedj »

Have read all the posts on Brown wire surgery and I have a couple of questions. It seems some of the posts talk about running a wire from the battery to the ignition switch or from the alternator to the ignition switch, and from the starter solenoid to the ignition switch. Is there a difference between the 3 or pluses and minuses for each? I would like a little guidance. It seems running from the battery would be easiest and not screw up anything else in the car.

Thanks

it had a braket that slid down and grouned out the coil and fryedthe wire

Hi Ed, The ideal brown wire fix is to duplicate the routing of your existing brown wire. I have a 1975 and my existing brown wire ran from the battery to the ignition switch -- so I duplicated this with a new wire of a slightly more robust guage. Here is a thread I had going at the time. Hope this helps.
