Hi From Moncton New Brunswick Canada

Hi
Purchased my 1974 Fiat 124 spider last year. First saw the car in june 1989, when a local resident parked her car (I first thought it was a 1965 275 Ferrari convertible) at a golf course by my home. I started talking with her and discovered the beauty of the Fiat 124 spider. I told her if ever she wanted to sell the car I would be very interested in purchasing it. I took a few pictures an placed the images on my wall of my office as my dream car.

January 2010, 11 years later, I get a call from her, saying that she is ready to sell the Fiat, because she needs the room in her garage. The price was very low, I assumed the vehicle was rusted beyond repair and after having 2 kids since then, I didn’t know if I was ready for a project vehicle. I’ll start by saying I HAVE A INCREDIBLE WIFE! Ginette knew how I pined over this 124 and said I deserved it. I contacted one of my best friends, JP, a superb and talented mechanic, to help check out the Spider.

Once at the garage, the past owner pulls the dusty cloth tarp off the car. The Fiat looked great, the paint was dull but JP pointed out that there wasn’t a spot of rust on the vehicle. We asked if it would start. She said it hasn’t been driven in 3 years.
JP looks at me and tells me if I don’t buy this he will. As we were leaving, she gives us the original 4 italian Micheline Tires and hub caps that came with the car in 1974. Never used. She placed spoked rims with wider tires. We brought it to JPs garage and I go home. As soon as I get home JP calls me and makes go back to his garage. He was so excited. He tells me “I replaced the battery and listen to this!” The Fiat engine was running perfectly. After the 124 was fully checkout, oil change, and filter change, I drove it home. Once there, the wife shows me a contract signed by her and my 2 sons (Luc and Xavier).
Ginette tells me I can only drive the car once I loose 60 lbs in weight. I signed it and proceeded to train with her every morning at 5 am. In june, when I finally, with the whole family, drove along the beautiful eastern sea coast. Last year and this year, we have been winning many awards in local car shows. Vicks Auto Sports has also been amazing in helping bring my car to perfection.
