Hello from Wisconsin
Hello from Wisconsin
I've just started learning about these cars, and I have the opportunity to purchase a 1982 Spider.
When I first heard about this car, I was hoping that it was a manual transmission, but have found out that it is the automatic.
Hopefully I will be able to find out some great information here leading me to the right choice of purchasing or passing on the car.
Joe

Re: Hello from Wisconsin
looks like it could be a great car
you need to look at the wheel wells for rust /and its hidden mostly
and under the drivers seat "rear" pass side front floorboard
but dont be afraid of a little.as we are both in WI "janesville"

Wisconsin Rapids for me.
Do you know much about the automatic transmission? thats what really bummed me out.
And I found out today it has a salvaged title from some front end damage....this is from one of my friends in-laws so I'm not too worried about him trying to screw me over.

Re: Hello from Wisconsin
lights trunsignals seatbelts horn wipers backup lights motor and tranz all good
and strucrily sound
mostlikely the car just took mild damage and was set aside
then junked just to get it out of the way
along came somone who cared and bought it from the yard
now youve got her in your sights
if you think the paints that bad you could just scuff it up and prime it"grey"

Re: Hello from Wisconsin
That's pretty much exactly what happened.
My friends father in law knew a guy at the junk yard that would keep his eye out for just something like this to come around.
So it's been sitting for awhile, not sure how many years, but he said he knows for sure there is one bad relay that needs to be replaced. He knows which one it is, just never got around to doing it.
Paint/bodywork would need to be done, which I would like to try on my own I have access to paint sprayers and sandblasting equipment.
Interior looks like that would just need an overall cleaning and should be good. The pictures honestly make the outside look a lot worse then it really is.

I am very interested about a club, but unfortunately for now my car is no where new road ready
but when (if) she ever is I'll be looking into it!

Re: Hello from Wisconsin
Several of us (myself included) have spent serious time un-roadworthy as we sort out major issues. I sometimes think of our car club more as a 'support group'
Re: Hello from Wisconsin
hah good to know! I wish I was closer to southern WI or had someone else near by that was interested in these cars! I look at it as my early (26) life crisis!
