So yesterday my key broke off in the ignition. Got it out last night with some creative advice on this forum. Today I put in the key, the buzzer buzzes, but when I turn the key on, nothing happens at all. There is no power to anything in the car including the starter. When I turn OFF the key, the buzzer buzzes and, low and behold, the clock that has never worked starts working! As far as I can tell, these are the only two electrical items in the car that are functional.
Tell me there's a quick and simple answer to this!
Thanks,
Doug

first check the batt connections,
second wiggle the key,
third grab a test light and test for power at the key and starting wire
if no power bad ING

I had a similar problem with my old ignition switch, turned out the contact points behind the black disc were touching due to a missing spring. Here is a diagram on repairing earlier switches, but if your car is a later model the switch is different, and you will not have any area to rivet the back onto the switch again, because there is a plate going over the middle of the disc. I also had a hell of a time trying to find 2x20mm machine screws. I ended up just getting a new ignition switch.

There is the Ignition Switch Repair Guide if you are feeling brave, but I think I would just recommend finding a new switch. Lots of guys on here should have a few extras lying around.
Good Luck!
