New to the Family

Post by 77fiatowner »

Just got my 77 Fiat Spider. Needless to say, I am very excited. I have lurking for a while, and purchased via Ebay. Very satisified with what I got, although a little disappointed it took about a month to find a trucking company who would bring it to me. I'm sure I will have a lot of questions, but I just wanted to check in and say hello. I live in Pleasantville, Iowa.

Congratulations. I also got my car off Ebay and it's terrific. Luckily, it was about 70 miles from me so I was able to take a look at it before I bid, and then I got a great price because it was like everyone else bidding on it forgot about it. Post some pics, we like seeing new owner's car.
Pleasantville... isn't that Superman's home town?

I need some advice on how to remove the rear view mirror, so I can replace it, and how can i get the rear light housing/lens off. I can get the yellow and white lens/housing off with no problem, but I cant get the red section off, so I can replace the light. I realize there is some type of screw, but cant seem how to get it out. Please give me advice like I am a second grader, since my mechanical abilities are slightly worse than a second grader.

Hope everyone is having a great 3 day weekend.

open the trunk and remove the phillips head screws that hold the cover on the back of the tail lights
theres 2 long AL nuts that hold the red plastic lense on both sides, then pull straight out.the clear backup and amber turn lenes are to be removed last.and put on first.

while i was in there i cleaned the crome housing good.
also i made new gaskets from closed cell foam.joe

Yup, twisted and it came right off. New one, I lined up and tried to get it in there, to no avail, but will try again in the AM.
