Hey guys,
As it's so hot in Alabama, I've not been up to working outside much. I took out the steering column on a nice day to get to the pedal box. Now that it's out, I've been trying to diagnose why the windshield washer pump wasn't working. It turns out that the pump works just fine. However, after testing the continuity from the green-black wire to the yellow-black, I found that no position of the windshield wiper arm would close those contacts.
Firstly, how do I get to the contacts? I'm guessing it's not too hard, but I can't see the obvious way to go about it. The steering wheel is still attached to the column and mount, by the way. I don't have a large enough socket to remove the steering wheel.
Do you think this is as easy as spraying some DeOxit, or do I probably have a bad set of contacts?
Thanks!
Kyle

Re: Windshield Washer Switch
i took my washer bag out years ago because it was worthless. you should be able get to all the contacts by removing the column covers just behind the steering wheel. there are phillips you can get to from the underside. once the 2 pieces are off, you can see all the column lever contacts. As i recall the washer is activated by pulling the washer arm toward you.

Well, that makes me feel stupid! Gee, I thought I had a bad contact. It turns out I don't know how to work it. So what's the second position for? Does this windshield wiper circuit have a intermittent (first position) and continuous (second position) mode, with pulling being wash? Interesting!
Thank you for the advice!
