Greetings. I recently acquired an '82 Spider from a gentleman in my neighborhood. For years I've been keeping classic SAAB 900's on the road, but parted with my final 900 (a beloved SPG) a few years ago. I've missed wrenching on and driving cars that remind you that you're driving a car.

I'm the 4th owner and the car has lived its entire life in Minnesota - and isn't rusted out! A few tiny bubbles lurking under a mediocre Maaco respray (original color was the pale yellow). Needs tires, heater valve, new top and a few electrical gremlins chased, but the PO did a fair bit of upgrades and maintenance - although most of it in the early 2000's. It has about 50K miles, although he replaced the speedo with a 140 mph version which reads 65K miles.

Winter projects include changing all fluids, brakes (at least one caliper hangs when warm), investigating steering (is it supposed to be THIS stiff?), new control arm bushings, refinishing the top bars/structure, cleaning carpet and addressing floor rust (very little and only surface!) and possibly going bumperless.

I'm impressed with the knowledge and resources on the site and look forward to interacting.
