A successful outing for both the Guy Standen / Andrew Coles CC and the Steve Schmidt / Tony Young AC at last week's Classic Targa Adelaide tarmac rally in South Australia. Twenty-six special stages in 4 days adding up to over 220 kms of flat out driving on some of the best roads and most picturesque scenery through the Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills in SA. Some very, very fast stages saw the AC's speedo off the dial at over 7000rpm in 5th; but my favourite stage would have to have been the spectacular and sinuous 16km Gorge Road Stage which links the Adelaide suburbs of Campbelltown and Athelstone with the towns of Cudlee Creek and Chain of Ponds - a great road that suited the AC, enabling us to catch and pass a 911 with a 30 second head start.
The Standen/Coles CC finished 6th out of 32 cars in the Late Classic category, our AC managed 11th out of 21 in the Early Classic category. Both cars were still running strongly at the end of the event dispelling, I hope, some of myths about Fiat unreliability .

Take that, Porche!
Way to go Curly.
And you're right, I have a lot more problems with my wife's Dodge mini-van than I do with my Fiat.

They look good and go fast, what's not to like
Some serious meats on those two.
Congrats on great finishes while showing some style. Are there more pix on an event website?
