What is the purpose and function of the sensor that lays across the bottom side of the heater core? Doesn't hook to anything nor control anything. I don't get it. Just something else to vibrate and potentially drop down into the fan housing. This for a 76 Spider.

Re: Temp sensor on heater core
that is a remnant of the early spiders. i had a 68 coupe with a small electric heating element and was controlled with that thermocouple. I guess the idea was to give you instant defrost. My 70 had the thermocouple but no element.
BTW. going to be in spokane the first week of October.

Re: Temp sensor on heater core
You might enjoy some nice weather azruss. Been chilly in the mornings but warming nicely. We had our first unofficial official road run to Sandpoint for breakfast last Saturday. Don Raugust and I are the North Idaho Fiat Club. We have no rules, no meetings, no elections, no dues, and no bylaws. What we do have is fun. Don braved the chilly morning top down. His 78 looked and sounded great on the road. I had a great time but did have a pool of coolant in the passenger side foot well hence my post regarding the heater core thermocoupler mystery.

Re: Temp sensor on heater core
It was a nice drive last weekend, really not that chilly in the car with just the vent open & the heater core on, no fan needed.
Although the people at the gas station we met at thought the wife & I were crazy w/ the top down, but it wasn't raining so the top was down to enjoy the ride.
Following Jim up his car looks sweet, the black paintjob w/ the red rims is a nice combo, I really like the no-bumper look we're both sporting..
They were having a farmers market while we were up there & a couple people stopped & asked about Jims cars & went on a memory walk back to the one they knew years ago.
Good trip Jim, we'll have to plan another sometime, I'll buy next time. Bummer about your coolant leak, hope its an easy fix.
azruss, let one of us know when your here & maybe we can all meet up.

Wonder if the North Idaho Fiat Club is open to guys from the NW corner of MT...
Although my faded green 72--with bumpers-- might really be an eyesore in comparison. Esp with only 3 hubcaps

majicwrench, You are in! No admittance rules. No rules period. I have a set of hub caps if you want them.
We had better get together before the you know what hits. I don't have a set of snow tires and Don doesn't have positraction or chains. On the other hand it could be exciting!

Make sure you guys have the front spoiler in place. It can double as a snow plow.
Re: Temp sensor on heater core
TulsaSpider is also in as his car was the inspiration for mine.
