Hi,

Welcome to the site! Making two cars out of one is always good, as you have two of everything and cal use the better one.
However, the '79 Spider came with a 2000cc engine, while the 1977 with an 1800cc. However nice that 1800 engine is, I think if you installed it in the '79, the car would never be worth as much as one with a 2000cc one. People would look at it as 'downgrading' the car.
What is wrong with the 2000 engine, is it not fixable? The intake manifold and carburetor from the 1800 are much better for performance, so those items on the 2000 would give noticeably more HP.

Hi there. You have found a great place for everything fiat.
Where abouts are you? I have several cars at the shop in Summerland and even have a good 2L on a stand.
Good to have a parts car, cheapest way I think of obtaining parts for your car. Id think about taking parts from the 1800 and swapping them out onto the 2L,head and intake manifold for instance.
If you are in the area,I'd love to help.
I'd like to find a good early fiat shell myself.

Well you have a project. I have a 2L block as well as a completed motor. If you have time, pop down and I'll show you what I have in cars and parts. I can go over some ideas as to where to start ect. I have some instalation fluid in the fridge at the shop. I'm putting a 72 back together at the moment. It's about a year behind schedule but...
