Re: 1964 Fiat Ghia 1500 gt restoration
I have some good news ! After almost 9 months of phone calls, emails, and searching the web for about 2 hours every day. I have located the stock 1500 motor / trans / and rear end with drive shaft. Hope to have it home by the end of the month
Re: 1964 Fiat Ghia 1500 gt restoration
Yeah ! Dont think the frame would hold up.lol how ever the 65 hp the stock motor puts out has me at a loss. I tend to like to go fast as soon as my foot hits the pedal. So as soon as the motor hit my door i am going to try to figure out how to get a few more horses out of it. If not i may go back to plan ( B ) 200 straight 6 ford. With a aussie cross flow head. Or plan ( D) that i am 100 % positve would work . I have 2 1930s V12 flat heads that i only have enough parts to make 1 motor. But the motor would weigh as much as the car did new.lol. Plan (C ) is a ford 302 with 4 dual webbers sticking up

and you already know the Fiat dino drive train idea. And there was also. I have a spare 2 liter spider motor and trans

Since you think the 440 with 6-pack is out I would opt for the Fiat 2L if it would work. It is well known how to improve performance with that engine.

i have been working with alternative power plants for my lancia scorpion, and have also thought of trying to adapt this to a spider. what im working with is a 6g72 dohc, (3000gt) 222hp 4ohc 4valves /cyl 10-1 comp, pretty compact unit, you can go twin turbo and get 320hp all stock

if i went newer i would drop a new mustang motor in i can trick it out to pull about 450 hp, lol might have to rebuild the frame for that

450 hp
you would need to beef up the whole drivetrain, tranz, driveshaft and rearend.
as well as springs,brakes,radiator
