just a quick question

Post by fiat218 »

on one of my spiders the battery is always dead, new battery etc etc ,
i did notice that it possible that the battery is sitting a tad high and the ground terminal is against the hood of the car, i just happen to see dents on the inner plate of the hood. SO is that possible it draining the battery, the ground terminal against the metal of the hood?

i really don't see that could be a factor, but u just never know

No, if you want to check if your battery is draining, put a test light in line between the + cable and the + on the battery. If the light go on, something draining.

Thats what he means, to look for a short in your wiring. if there is, have a quik look for the obvious and if no luck, leave that test light (or multimeter) hooked up and start pulling fuses until you find out which circuit has the short, hen trace and repair...doesnt that sound easy...I hope it works out so easy

this test can leave you chasing ghosts. the clock is always pulling juice. a lot of modern radios never truly turn off. before you start chasing a current leak, you need to make sure these "always on" devices have been disconnected.

the clock and radio are such low current draw I doublt they would illuminate a light. Best use a multimeter and see the current draw. Anything draining the battery overnight will have to pull come current. Note if there is any arcing or a spark when disconnecting the + side of the battery, you have some current draw (no spark does not mean no current draw, but a spark would mean draw). Good luck
