Re: brake lite
i had a reverse light that didnt work,it was the wire going to it
i had to recrimp on a new end
you can run a seperate ground to it to see if thats it
but test your bulb first
if that dont work then its your positive wire or socket

Re: brake lite
You just have to use a voltmeter and go down the line too see where the voltage goes missing.

Re: brake lite

Re: brake lite
Sometimes that socket breaks away from the circuit board, you may have to re-solder it if you find you have power to the right side connector. See if you can follow the trace on the board and check voltage as you do. I've had many with broken traces on the boards themselves.

Re: brake lite
I agree a common problem is the rivets holding the sockets to the PC board loosen over time. A good solution is to solder all the light socket connections to the PC board and inspect the copper runs on the boards for visible damage. Be sure to to clean the surfaces very well before attempting to solder. Use only electrical solder and solder flux. No acid or plumbing solder. Clean flux off the board when finished as flux will hold moisture and cause future corrosion.
If the PC board is not physically broken in pieces it can be efficiently repaired
Good luck
