Dumb Toothed Belt Question
Dumb Toothed Belt Question
I'm putting my engine back together. Many of you know that I did not take it apart. I have some manual files and a manual for a different type of Fiat. I have a 1981. Do I just have one belt that goes from the cam around the alternator, water pump and pulley? Anyone have an image? I have a belt. The PO took everything apart but had the new parts. If I knew what was going on, my whole engine bay would be together today. Oh well. I knew it'd be slow going.
Re: Dumb Toothed Belt Question
It's fuel injected and it doesn't look like the alternator lines up with the same belt as the water pump would take.

Re: Dumb Toothed Belt Question
The toothed belt(timing belt) goes from the main crank, to the aux pulley, up to the cams and is tensioned by the bearing. The water pump, alternator and air pump are all driven by vee belts and are independent of the timing system
Re: Dumb Toothed Belt Question
Ack. I'm a moron. The water pump pulley was on backwards.
Anyone know if I can get a tee gasket anywhere local? I had ordered one for IAP and I seem to have misplaced it. Yet another tiny annoyance blocking the starting of my car.
