Hi All, Finally I got approved to join your forum, for some reason I was not getting approved, but that's water under the bridge now cause Here I am!

Anyways I am a new owner of a 1979 Fiat Pininfarina Spider 2000

It needs some work so I will be spending some time reading through the forum and asking questions.. hopefully my questions will not be stupid or silly but no guarantees.

I am located near Monterey California if anyone local wants to get together for events I am all for it!

hello vince thats a nice car
you need to bust open that rust and stop it
check out the ft shock towers in the wheel wells for rust
and behind the seats on the floor boards
i used a rust inhibiter i bought at orillys
btw theres NO stupid questions

Yep, the first thing i did was to hit the 2 bad spots. The right rear fender was just surface rust, I sanded it clean, treated it with naval Jelly, washed it and hit it with ruststop primer. The trunk lid actually ended up as a quarter sized hole. I cleaned it, treated it, filled it with bondo, sanded and ruststop primer here also. These are just temporary fixes, if everything else goes well I will paint it before next summer.

Welcome to the Club
I am in San Jose Area, pretty close
Bought mine in June, Drove it all summer , now spending evening restoring it.
Strip it all down, want to get it repainted, redo my dash, Instrument Cluster, some wiring.
Hope to be all done by April or May to drive it down to the Coast.
Maybe in your area.
This Site is so good to get the know our cars better.
Hope to drive by Monterey on Highway 1 in a nice Italian Convertible real soon.
