Hi from King City Ontario

Post by maxwebster »

Hi folks. I learned to drive stick on my Dad's 74 spider when I was 11. Bought a 78 in 1982 when I was 19 from Trento Motors. Sold my 78 in 1986. Big mistake.

Just picked up an 84 Pininfarina Spider Azzura. The car is from North Carolina, virtually rust free and runs well. Original paint from what I can tell. Same as the spider on the banner up top. Same colour with black top and interior (only not as shiny).

I'm looking for tips on where to find parts in the GTA. And I'm after a shop manual. Need to bone up on Bosch FI and get this baby on the road by May 2012.

Great site.

Hmm strange, I am 19 and just bought a '78. So you mean to say that I shouldn't sell my Spider in four years? Done deal. Welcome. Joining this forum was the best thing I've done since buying my Spider. So much info so quickly.

Hi there. This is a great source of info and parts.
In the Toronto area "Andy's Spiders" restores these cars and will sometimes have parts you may require. With the Can.$ reasonably strong right now, the above mentioned vendors all have been great in supporting the fiats.

It was a mistake in the sense that among the many cars I've owned, the Spider had the most raw character and classic style. It does not become dated in the way any or 4 or 5 year old modern production car does save for anything over 100g's, and even then...

However as much as I've always missed my 78, the body and frame were severely compromised by the Toronto climate. It had been driven in winter before I bought it and the rust had set in pretty bad.

This 84 is in beautiful shape. A prime candidate for restoration, but in good enough shape to be enjoyed as is, and to improve as I go. I don't mind that's it's a bit worn. I don't plan on hitting the track with it.

Thanks for the info and links. Looking forward to spring!
