guten Abend from santa rosa california

Post by macernst »

as the title says, i am german. moved to california a few years ago. first sf bay and now up to sonoma county. nice climate up here. perfect for a cabrio.
we had for minimum 5 fiats in the family, mostly 128. they did not see service stations to often, we did most work on them by ourself. now i would love to have a spider. i would prefer the 1972 with the 1608 motor. maybe somebody in this forum can help.
will post in the classified later.
i am sure to find a lot of good information here. thanks for keeping this site up. question will come, when i found the dream car.

Einen schoenen guten Abend...nee, guten Morgen von Minneapolis, MN. I will have my 10th anniversary living in the the US next Thursday. Welcome to the forum, it is a very good source for information, help and entertainment. Good luck finding the right car, I think CA is a good place for that, there seem to be more, less rusty, Spiders than here in Minnesota.

Look on your local and nearby Craigslist first, then the Fiat forums, then eBay. However, NEVER buy a car you have not seen.
I've seen too many cars that looked good in pics but were actually in terrible shape.

socal cars can be very clean, rust free and resonably priced. Be cautious in the north as many of the cars lived in the bay area or on the coast and have severe rust issues.

you may have to travel to find the right car, as the Bay Area seems to have mostly later 2000 FI cars that come up for sale.
