yes...and get that stupid serpent off the side. pix arent clear enough to see if there are rust issues, but the body looks to be in generally good condition. others know the years better that me, but looks like a 71 with a 1600cc that has been modified with dual carbs and custom exhaust manifold. looks like an extra gage has been added to the dash as well. this is a good year.

The car is in northern IL. There's a little bit or rust bubbling on the trunk lid near the passenger tail light but other than that the car is solid. It needs a new top and new tires. Probably some other things too. I didn't think the snakes on the side were original.

Looks to me like someone wanted a Shelby Mustang and couldn't afford one! :D

That boot stripe was also added with that cobra, it seems.

Did any of these cars come from the factory with the roll bar? I figure the headlight wire covers are aftermarket...

There are, what appears to be at least from the photos, a lot of aftermarket parts on that car. Wheels, Roll bar, Mirrors??, Mesh on headlights, bottom stripes, Ford/Shelby Cobra emblem, there is an additional gauge in the center dash... plus the stuff mentioned on the engine (dual carbs).

But it looks great (minus the stripes and cobra, that has to go :) ). It has the chrome small bumpers that are something a lot of folks would love to have in their cars, that dual carb setup must be sweet on the ears....

Seriously, do us a favor and wash the car, take more photos and share them.

Hey Flash1970,

Seeing that your located in Northern Illinois, I welcome you to check us out over at Chicagoland Fiat Lancia Unlimited (Chi-FLU). We have a very active club that meet at least once a month and would love to have you check us out. We currently have 115 online members, several who are willing to help out on restoration projects to keep these cars on the road. We even have a member with a "Barn 'O Fiats" located northwest of Milwaukee with many parts stripped from various Spiders and X1/9's that is helpfull when looking for "bargain parts" to help in the process.

Here is a link to check us out. http://www.chicagolandflu.com/

It cost's nothing to register to be an online member only, however you will need to join if you want to come along on some driving events this Spring/Summer.

Look forward to meeting you and your car!

Thanks for the responses. I live in Lake Geneva Wisconsin and work in Milwaukee so if my dad needs parts, I might be hitting up that Barn 'o Fiats. My dad already said he might want to keep the Cobra emblems on the car because he likes them... Why, I don't know. The cars I normally play around with are the DSM's (Eclipses, Talons, Lasers of the 90's). People always put dumb bodykits and stickers on those so I know where you're coming from with that Cobra emblem being out of place... He said he wants to keep the car original but he thinks the wheels, roll bar, wire mesh on the headlights, Cobra emblem... is all factory. It's his car...

He said it's a 72 according to the title.

Hehehe, not original, but no sense in arguing with him. His car, so if he wants to keep them, it is all good.

Now, about getting it clean and more presentable for a few more photos??? :D

I hadn't heard about this before! Where exactly is it/which member does it belong to? I live in Door County, but go to school in Milwaukee. Having a place that I could drive to to save me shipping costs would be fantastic!

Hey blurple124 & 124Joe,

You guy's need to check out our Chi-FLU group like I suggested to Flash! In fact, he just signed up to our MeetUp site today so he can see what we have to offer. We have several members from Wisconsin as well as Iowa, Indiana and Michigan. The "Barn O' Fiats" is associated with our Chi-FLU group and is based on a "pay-it-forward" mentality to allow our members a place to donate and take parts to keep there Fiat's on the road. It also helps keep you shed's, basements and garages uncluttered with unused parts to keep the spouces happy.

We also have several driving events throughout the year with some being close to your areas so we can keep our Wisconsin & Iowa guy's active.

Here is a link to check us out. http://www.chicagolandflu.com/
