Lubing power window motor gears? What lube is recommended?

Post by Fiat88 »

While I have the door panels off,I want to lube the power window regulator and gears. What is a good lube/grease to use? Any other parts of the window worth lubing or inner door? Thanks.

My car doesn't have power windows, but I did this same job a few weeks ago.

You can buy an aerosol can of lithium grease. Make sure you get the one with a directional nozzle similar to the ones you get with WD40.

I wound the up the windows as far as they would go so as not to spray grease on the glass, then sprayed each of the pulleys. Make sure you also do the entire door lever mechanisms, including the catch mechanism. Some parts inside the door were tough to get at.

I also did the door hinge and the U-shaped door check (looks like this: http://www.vickauto.com/newstore/index. ... ts_id=2497).

Amazing how a good greasing can make a big difference.
