Thanks for the warm welcome. Is there a board for help in arranging inspections for distant purchases?

Hello Boris61,
I live in St. Louis and you will drive through on your way to KC. I lived in Carmel, IN for 12 years before moving here and was raised in Anderson. Let me know if you drive through.
Welcome!

Don, Thanks! I live South of Indy. I am picking it up Sat ( tomorrow) in KC. I am flying there to drive back and by the time I get to St Louis (3-4 PM) i will already own it! But if you have the time and would like to see it and give me your opinion, That would be cool. I don't have 3G on my iPad. If you could send me a private message with your phone number, Maybe we can work it out. Wish me luck! 500 mi in a 28 yr old spider is pretty risky...

I hope it turns out to be a nice road trip for you. Check all fluids before you leave and every 150 miles or so and take it easy,at least until your close to home then have some fun with it.

Dennis, Thanks for the advice. I will try to be careful with it. The car was owned by an excellent mechanic (Doug, from Doug's Motor Werks in KC) and has only 9k wth the current owner since complete overhaul. Even has high performance cams and a hardened crank shaft. He also rebuilt the tran and all the brake components. If it doesn't get me Back to Indy, I will be surprised ( and stuck!). Mechanically it is a great find! Needs some work on the intereor though and some minor body work and paint. I'll post a few pics once I get Home.

Hey Boris! Good to hear that you are back into the world of Fiat! I am in Indy too! We do have a club here in Indy and we will have some pretty cool events this year. Have we met? I drive a Orange 79 Spider. We have members from all around central Indiana including Greenwood and Carmel. Here is a link to our club, and a teaser shot! Hope to see you soon! Don, I am getting close to St Louis. Should be there by 6:45 today. I'm sending my cell number to you privately. Call if you still want to meet me and see the car. So far it is running pretty well. The usual gauges cutting in and out and of course the heater is totally inadequate for this kind of weather. brrrr.

Well, I got the car home. Thanks for all the advice and encouragement. Now to start fixing it up. Definitely needs a new exhaust. Any suggestions? And of course the dash needs repair too.

Glad you made it home! I didn't get the phone number until today when I read the post. Sorry about that. I sent you a pm, but I'm not sure you got it. Glad things are home safe!

Here's a link to a picture of my 84 Spider as requested. Let me know if there is a specific location for this.
