Re: Uh oh....
Well...found "mods" to distributor to make a "special mount" work from PO. Just got off the phone with Greg from Allison Automotive...new distibutorless ignition system on its way.
Anyone need a brand new coil...couple of condesors...or plug wires? Can't return them since installed...sell em pretty cheap.

WOW! What a differrence that new distributorless ignition makes!!! That system was very easy to install and time. Can't wait to drive her around the block for the first time since getting her! Thanks everyone for the advice and feedback. I determined at the end that the PO did some 'mods' to the original distributor that basically destroyed it. I couldn't even get the screws for the cap to mount into it.
So now I have some extra parts that are essentially brand new.
THanks again for all the advice on troubleshooting
