I keep blowing fuses on the Gauge light circuit, that includes right rear tail light and marker light. the left front parking light and marker light. And I think the cigarette lighter.
I have unpluged the rear lights and front lights and unpluged the Gauge cluster, still pops fuses. Any other possibilities, or thoughts other than tracing down each wire in the circuit.
Blowing fuses
Re: Blowing fuses
My trunk light shorted and caused the same circuit to blow the fuse. Also the cig lighter can short out at the socket, but on my 82 that is a seperate fuse.

Re: Blowing fuses
Have you done anythng in a while new. I had the same issue and found a copper wire pushed through the taped wiring harness to keep it next to the rail under the dash. It may have been done that way at the factory. For some reason this shifted and created a hot to ground situation under the dash. This continually blew fuses until I isolated the exposed wire.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

Re: Blowing fuses
it sounds like your power wire at the back of the cig lighter is grounding out on the radio
if it is there will be black marks on the bottom of your radio
black electrical tape the hot wire for the cig lighter

when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)

Thanks, I'll have a look at the trunk light, and then the Cig. lighter.

Re: Blowing fuses
I do agree that the trunk light has no other function than blowing fuses.
I taped the wire , no problems ever since.
of course behind the middle console it's a spiders web and installing a radio there is a bit like abdominal endoscopic surgery ( Ì stress on 'a bit' ) with a hammer.
When does the fuse blow ?

Re: Blowing fuses
On a related note, I have been looking at those cheap, crappy halogen driving lights that you see for sale in the various autoparts stores for like 20 bucks a set. Why? Because one of those, mounted in the trunk would make an amazing trunk light, wired directly to the battery, and properly switched and fused in the trunk. Plenty of light, and the fact that they are not well weather protected doesn't matter at all in the trunk. Once I get the car out of storage I will look more into this and report back.
