Howdy all from Dallas, Texas

Post by Texasbull »

Just bought my first FIAT, 1979 Spider 2000 (Her name is Fiona). She needs some TLC and I've already started tearing into her. Read some of the info on here when I started looking into different cars, liked what I read and seen. Will be reading lots more and probably asking a few questions as well. Pics are coming. Just a side note, I also own a 95 Harley Heritage, and have been doing upgrades to her as well (Lucille), so some time and money (very budget limited) may be split between fixing each of them, and riding, and fishing, and just being flat out lazy sitting on the deck drinking beer.

Thanks Joe, and yeah, that's how she was when I picked her up. I'll be wrapping those headers soon. Had a little civic I put ceramic headers on, and wrapped those as well, makes a HUGE difference in engine bay heat. I also don't have to worry about emissions here in Texas because she's considered a CLASSIC, so I'll be removing all of the extras under the hood as well. My first endeavor was to fix the gangster seat on the driver's side, pulled it out yesterday only to find the bottom pan of the seat is a bunch of rust held together by some yellow foam, so I'll be looking for new seats too. Still gonna fix the top part (brought it into work with me, guys here can weld it up nice and strong), and use it till I get new ones.

Hello and welcome to the best source of information available. There are quite a few people here from Texas and you are close to a great source for parts.

I have a "Fiona" too. I think it's a beautiful name for a beautiful car.
The wife called her that one day & it stuck...& it fits...she was just referring to her as "your girlfriend" before that.

naming the car may be popular or common however, we as proud Fiat owners know that every one of them is unique. That being said your car looks awesome even with the "riding dirrrrrty" gangsta seat lol

That was actually the very first thing I fixed! lol... Took it apart Monday night, brought it into work and had the guys weld it up for me, reinstalled it last night. No more gangsta'! However, my lower seat pan is being held together by foam, so I'm looking for a lower seat pan, which they seem to be rather rare, for obvious reasons.
