1960 multipla

Post by generationx75spider »

I am buying a 1960 multipla actually I am trading some bodywork for it. It is very rare for Montana but does anyone know how rare these cars are in the rest of the states. It is not in very good shape but I can fix it and if I don't it will still just look cool in my backyard. Also does anyone know where I can get body parts like a right hand back door that is missing. Thanks for the help. Oh I should tell you the story about the missing door. A family bought a small farm here in montana and they have a barn ,the barn was packed full of junk, they found the loose door just inside the barn door. It was winter so like any montanan would do they hooked the door up to the truck and pulled the kids around the farm. The door was trashed and they threw it away. That spring they emptied the garage out and found the car. True story.

Here's a pic

My father had two 600's in the early 60s. The Multipla was based on the 600. The 600 was a normal car.

I consider the multipla to be the ugliest car known to man, only perhaps challenged by the 2CV. They are not nearly as common as a 600, but they are around. I ran on to one here in phoenix about 6 months ago that i guy was restoring. When i lived in Eugene, there were a couple of them there. I did own a 600D for a while and loved the car. talk about simplicity. Dont expect to take it on the freeway without getting run over.

Ahem! Dear Sir, the ugliest car by far is the Aztec

Funny, I have thought this for years. Even the NEW multipla is ugly. Additional ugly cars to the Multipla, 2cv, and Aztec were the LeCar, VW Thing, AMC Pacer, and Chevrolet Citation 4dr.

But it is so unusual that its cool looking to me. I like having a car that nobody has or even wants, its different.

Hey GenX,

I certainly hope you post some pics of your Multipla. My wife bought me a Fiat T-shirt that has a picture of a Multipla on it ( I love the shirt). I think that is a great vehicle! It kind of reminds me of a Nash Metropolitan--very unique and turns a lot of heads.

They say, rightly so I think, that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have always thought that unique cars, motorcycles, etc are very cool! After all, don't we all own unique cars? I can't remember the last time I saw a Spider roaming anywhere around Eastern Mass!

Love the Larz! I used to do German Motorcycle day there every year with my Beemer. I also actually saw a new Fiat 500 yesterday in Foxboro Center! They are still rarer than hen's teeth around these parts.

Maybe April 19th for the first Spring Cruise Night at Bass Pro we could get a few Fiats from the local area? Admittedly easy for me, I could push the car over there I am so close by.
