Hello

Hello, forgot to make a post... got caught up reading and never did it Ooops.. looks like I haven’t been deleted so that is good.

I am from Woodbury Minnesota, Joe(because I am just a regular guy) and DQ1(because I own the highest volume DQ in the world). My first car was a 1981 FIAT X1/9.. still have it in my garage though you wouldn't be able to find it... where I learned that a car is not just transportation, but the good ones are a lot like that girl in the new FIAT commercial - beautiful, temperamental, seductive, slaps you from time to time. But of course, you need transportation too... so I have owned many soulless vehicles since my first car was unable to reliably take me anywhere, great reliable Japanese cars which I have just hated, with 5 kids I have had my assortment of minivans and at one point I owned a BMW M3 that I supercharged to over 400hp and put enough money into that I should have just bought a 911 Turbo and realized I was trying to recreate something I just couldn't with more power. I picked up a 1981 Spider last summer and was nearly in tears driving home it was such a joy. I was stunned at just how much pleasure this car could bring with such a small investment. It looks a lot like the car on the fiatspider.com header now, not perfect but no rust and runs great.... or does in-between dismantling by me replacing bushings, seals, and lightening the car. I told my wife I wouldn't be messing with this car like I had the BMW... but there is a fair amount of "slapping" that goes on with a thirty year old car that requires attention, and some that having more horse power spoils you into wanting just a little more ummmff:

So far I have changed out
A-arms and bushings
front wheel bearings
engine mounts
all fluids
repaired fuel tank
oil pan gasket

took out spare, jack, front and back bumpers
replaced battery with a yellow top
installed new aluminum radiator with electric fan
installed 95 amp alternator
replaced starter with lighter one
installed Allison amber lights
front spoiler
Red springs

currently installing:
Allison headers and exhaust
aluminum water reservoir
Stainless water tube with throttle body heater delete
programmable fuel injection
cold air intake

To my wife's dismay, this will keep me busy for a bit.
