No Spark?

Post by HiFiSpi77 »

What is the best test for spark? I've removed the spark plug, put the wire on, laid it on the engine and turned the key...nothin'. I then took the coil wire off the distributor, stuck a screwdriver in it, laid it just off the engine...nothin'. I then checked the voltage on the terminals of the coil-10.89 volts...good enough right? It got dark outside so I packed it up for today, any suggestions for next time? Thanks

you should get 12V on the +ve side and the -ve side gets switched by your point or electronic module. I'd make sure the circuit is working, the unit should still work even without the condensor although your radio may be noisy.
be a little careful, once you get a belt from the coil, it's a definate wake up call....
hope this helps
Cheers David

I had my little brother hold the spark plug wire. Once. He wouldn't do it again.

I put my timing light on the wire and a rubber band around the trigger. Just make sure no wires are where the fan can get it.
