I don't know beans about this stuff, but...
Can't you just take the amp out of the loop and play the speakers directly from the radio?
If it plays its the amp, no?
I just put my interior back together. I don't have an amp. The speakers are powered by the radio.

Most head-units should have a "line-out" and a "low-out". so yes, you're probably onto something.Exit98 wrote:I don't know beans about this stuff, but...

I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!

Yep, did just that. Tested the head unit hooking up the RCA cables to I-pod speakers and the head unit worked. Undid a speaker wire and hooked it up to the back of the head unit and it worked. Checked the end of the 12 foot RCA cable and it worked. Ordered a Rockford Fosgate "Punch" four channel mini amp that has great reviews for pushing sound across a wide band of frequencies using rale technology. Spent $170 and the unit is small and non intrusive 6-3/4"L x 4-1/4"W x 1-1/2"H. Amp came in this weekend and installed. Houston we have lift-off. Car stereo sounds great.
Thanks all for your help as I gained an education on stereo equiptment. Pretty easy stuff once you get into it.

75 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms. 300 rms X 1. it is around 1000 amps max. If I turn it up and hold it at peak it will blow the 200 watt max speakers.
