consoles...

Post by scampbel98 »

yeah.. that's right...
so i've got a 1980 with a Franken-motor. but its a driver and rust free.
The interior now has my attention. the lower center console that came with it was very (VERY) flimsy and thin. just plastic, no foam, no reinforcements at all (and no rear ash tray).
I bought a recovered one off ebay awhile back that was clearly a black, glued over blue, all painted beige.
But this one was much sturdier.. lots of dense foam underneath. more... "substantial"... this one had a rear ashtray and bolt down point, but doesn't fit quite right. pretty sure it's for an early 70's..

so my question.. what are the original center consoles like - thin or stustantial and.. can i use one of the many glue on covers i see online alone?
thanks!

it suonds like the flimsy one is a cap
mine is firm and has the mount under the ash tray
as for not quite fitting, these car were hand built so screw holes dont always line up
just drill new ones. if your happy with that console.
when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)
